8/24/2008 - We received word that our girl suffered a broken nose during a
hard tackle at the first UVa practice of the year. Unfortunately, she was
relegated to playing in a clear mask. We have included some excerpts from the Q&A
over at VirginiaSports.com. Head on over there to read the full transcript and check out a picture of the mask.
Nikki said: It was the first practice and everyone was excited to get started. We were doing some one versus one defending and everyone got into it and those type of things happen.
Nikki answered: Yes (This is the first time she has had to wear a mask).
When asked how it was made, Nikki explained: They have to make a mold of your face to make the mask. You had to lay on a table and they put a stocking over your face and then plaster on that. You had to then wait for the plaster to dry and they had to cut the stocking off of your face.
Nikki went on to talk about preparation for UVa's first game against Loyola. We
have to say that we love Nikki Krzysik's tenacity at the first
practice. Go get'em this year Nikki!
